Star Wars Miniatures Re - Paints

Hi all,

Something a bit different for you today. I am a HUGE Star Wars fan and so the idea of gaming the Star Wars universe is right up my street. Now i know not everyone is a fan of pre - painted minis but i think some of the sculpts are quite cool. Of course the painting is questionable and heavy on some but a little scraping and a decent undercoat and you have a good start for re - painting.

So here are my first three efforts (left to right) A Commando Droid, an R7 Astromech Droid and a Senate Commando.

These are from the Clone Wars Era and feature mainly in the Animated Series "Clone Wars". Im quite happy with how these guys turned out considering how thick they were painted before hand. I'm painting more as and when and will post pics when they are done. My friend and I are currently play testing some rules based on the GW LOTR set.

Heres some single pics

Cheers
Rob

Nice! I've never dared repaint pre-painted plastics, but you've pulled it off beautifully.

I am a sucker for the richness of your colours... That green on the droid or the blue of the clone are amazing. Are you using a paint brand exclusively?

Thanks for the comments Guys!

Doc,

I use a range of different paints but i mainly use Privateer Press P3 and GW. I have loads of Foundry paints but i only use them every now and then, i prefer to mix my own highlights rather than use their triads.

The green was P3 Iosian Green as a base and then P3 Wurm Green added for highlights.

The Blue was P3 Exile Blue as a base and GW Fortress Grey added for highlights.

Hope that helps and looking forward to seeing more of your work soon!

Thanks, Rob. I was vaguely remembering you mentioning the P3 paints. I've never used them, but I will definitely give them a try.

The R7 Astromech Droid is my favorite of the lot. Keep up the great work!

All the best,

These look great! I was surprised at how well the Hasbro minis repainted, being bendy plastic, but you pulled it off beautifully. --Fitz
